01 What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember things between pages or visits — for example, whether you have already responded to a consent prompt.
For the purposes of this policy, "cookies" also includes browser-based storage technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage. Our site mainly uses these rather than traditional cookies. They are a different technology, but they serve similar functions and are treated the same way here.
02 The storage we use
We keep our use of storage deliberately small. Nothing used for analytics or attribution runs until you accept it through the consent banner. Here is exactly what we store and why:
| Key | Purpose | Type / lifespan |
|---|---|---|
tif_consent_v1 |
Records your choice in the cookie consent banner (accepted or rejected) so we don't prompt you again on every visit. | localStorage · essential · persistent until cleared |
tif_tracking_v1 |
Stores campaign attribution details (such as advertising click identifiers and UTM parameters) so an enquiry can be matched to the advertising source it came from. Written only if you accept. | localStorage · attribution · set on consent |
tif_first_visit_v1 |
Records the timestamp of your first visit, used to understand the path from first contact to enquiry. Written only if you accept. | localStorage · attribution · set on consent |
03 Categories of storage
Essential
Required for the site to function and to remember your consent choice. These are always active and cannot be switched off, because the site cannot work properly without them. tif_consent_v1 falls in this category.
Attribution and analytics
Help us understand how visitors find us and attribute enquiries to the right advertising source. These run only after you accept through the consent banner. tif_tracking_v1 and tif_first_visit_v1 fall in this category.
04 Third-party cookies
If you accept analytics and attribution, our advertising and measurement providers may set their own cookies to measure campaign performance. These are governed by those providers' own privacy and cookie policies. We do not set third-party advertising cookies before you give consent.
05 Managing your choices
You are in control:
- Consent banner — when you first visit, you can accept or reject non-essential storage. We honour rejection by not setting attribution storage.
- Your browser — you can clear or block cookies and site storage through your browser settings at any time. Doing so may reset your consent choice and clear stored attribution data.
Blocking essential storage may affect how parts of the site work, including remembering that you have already answered the consent prompt.
06 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our site or the tools we use change. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Please check back periodically.
